After two years, Decorex Africa re-launched its flagship events in Cape Town and Johannesburg to an excited design community – with the theme of Reimagination at the forefront. The Mother City’s four-day event took place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 16-19 June. Following on from this success, Johannesburg’s event was held at the Sandton Convention Centre from 28-31 July. Missed the shows? Step onto our stand and experience the highlights for yourself…
Decorex Africa is BACK!
With a focus on design inspiration, Infinity Surfaces’ stand showcased the versatility of its material. From kitchen islands to wall cladding, our large-scale slabs can be installed in a number of spaces and design aesthetics. By attending Decorex, our end users were able to speak to a consultant in person about the products, see their favourite colour samples, and get expert advice.
Kitchen Island and Wall Cladding: Classic Statuario and Concrete Light
Starting in the kitchen, Classic Statuario adorned the kitchen island top, backsplash, and wall cladding. Concrete Light finished off the sleek look along the sides of the kitchen island. Classic Statuario has the marble look that people love with the familiar grey veins that help make this so elegant.
As one of our newly launched colours, Concrete Light is a versatile grey surface with a soft and cloudy texture. Neighbouring the kitchen island was our Calacatta Oro wall cladding, which was book-matched for added drama. Calacatta Oro has the classic veining and marble look with grey and gold veins atop an off-white background.
Lounge & Entertainment Area: Metal Corten and Milan Stone
Heading into the lounge area, the fireplace walls alternated in cladding to first feature our bold Metal Corten and then our earthy Milan Stone. Metal Corten is a work of art with dark tones of red and brown. Inspired by red oxide, Metal Corten offers a metallic, deconstructed ‘urban decay’ aesthetic. Milan Stone brings in an organic movement and texture to the space – allowing bright colours to pop against its neutral colour palette.
An incredibly durable stone, Infinity Surfaces is heat resistant and therefore perfect for fireplace cladding and braai areas. Finishing off the display was a pair of timeless TMC1 Outdoor occasional chairs by local designers, The MOOD Collectives.
Bathroom: Ocean Blue
And finally, the pièce de resistance moment for most Decorex attendees was the Ocean Blue in the bathroom! This incredible colour was featured in all its glory – covering the entire wall behind the shower, showing that this space of the house can be exciting and modern.
Ocean Blue is inspired by a rare variant of a natural quartzite and simulates the waves in the ocean. It brings an exclusive touch to any application. Being a non-porous surface and perfect for wet spaces, we also installed a cladded vanity in Metal Corten to remind homeowners of the importance of investing in your bathroom’s design.
Porcelain Furniture by EDGE Designs
Homeowners love Infinity Surfaces for the aesthetic and durability it brings into their homes. Designers love it for the design freedom it brings to their design projects. Collaborating with Durban-based designers, EDGE Designs, allowed us to introduce Infinity Surfaces in bespoke furniture pieces. Proudly on display was the Gunta Console Table in Renoir, the Preller Standing Lamp in Calacatta Oro, and the Klee Coffee Table in Renoir.
The Great Outdoors
Reminding everyone that Infinity Surfaces’ slabs are also suitable for the outdoors, our gorgeous reading nook was brought to life with a full wall and seat cladding in Travertino Grey – a contemporary version of Persian Travertine.
